That same family took over our party of 12, and we were blown away how sharp the boy was.
I've been in other restaurants where food is expensive, not half as good, 'coool' servers with attitud and bad service, and they expect a full 15% tip just becouse.
At Yala we loved the whole package is just awesome.
I see your point but I saw another side on the coin

This is probably my favourite restaurant on the North Shore. Service is quick and friendly and the food is always fantastic. Their Pad Thai is amazing! Definitely try this place out!

Amazing food, for a great price, the dinner special is a great deal!. Try the green curry with peppers, bamboo shoots and tofu, its excellent,! The thing I didn't like really is how the children of the owners are always around, they serve you, and they are always eating in front of the customers at the counter, I understand it is a family restaurant, but it does not project a good image to have your children at the counter eating, and taking breaks from homework and such to serve the customers. Another thing, they don't all speak english very well, sometimes it is hard to communicate, but if you have some patience you'll be fine. Sometimes I find the best option is to do takeout. ! but great food!

i used to love this place but over the summer their portions brcame smaller and the service got worse. I really hate going in to a restaurant and being waited on by the owners 8 year old daughter and having the tables cleared by the owners 10 year old son.

Food is great for price, nice couple work and own. Nothing great in terms of decor but the food is simple and tasty, the prices are great, and overall, its much better than the other two Thai places in North Van !!

Spicy chicken/prawn salad is really nice.

Fabulous little 'hole in the wall' run by two very friendly Thai cooks. Prices are an excellent value, particularly the lunch and dinner specials, and food is top notch. I highly recommend the red curry! Also vegetarian friendly.

Very quick and tasty. Swimming Rama especially good. Also, they will often let you make substitutions to their lunch specials, which are reasonably priced. Have been there three times and have been pleased each time!
